Joseph H Pilates created a unique fitness method of mind/body conditioning in the 1920s. He studied different disciplines and drawing from each of them, he formulated a system that worked for his own body — this became known as the pilates method. The pilates method emphasizes abdominal strength and core stability, while balancing the rest of the body. Pilates exercises aim to condition the body as a unified structure, not simply as isolated muscles.
Physiolates is our name that we have given to Clinical Pilates. Clinical Pilates is the ideal way to prevent and manage injuries. Physiolates focuses on developing individual programmes of pilates and physiotherapy exercises that aim to treat an injury, tone and stretch your body, correct poor posture, alignment and movement patterns. This will reduce the risk of injury and re-injury in the future.
All our instructors are both qualified physiotherapists as well as accredited pilates instructors. Our programs are individually tailoured to your needs and injury to ensure that the program is safe and effective. In addition, our classes have maximum of three per group to ensure personal attention at all times. Our clinic has the equipment for real time ultrasound which enables us to scan the core muscles to check you are using them correctly. A scan will be done on all initial consultations.
